ABOUT BARNHOUSE

The original barnhouse was hand built by a settler family, serving them well for generations. When we took on the property it was a ruin and Shiraz now grows where it once stood.

We feel the Barnhouse epitomises the Australian settler spirit - resolute, industrious, and pioneering. We make our wines in that same spirit.

The wine is dark and full bodied, showing plenty of blackberries and mulberries with well integrated classic oak characters leading to a long and fruit dominant finish.

Our Barossa Shiraz is intense with complexity and refinement. The deep colour and dark fruit nose demonstrate its pedigree, with integrated oak adding yet another layer of flavour. A wine to savour.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD

Wine region: Barmera, Riverland

Fruit for our Barnhouse range is from our vineyard located at Barmera region of Riverland. Barmera exists in a semi-arid location and is surrounded by mallee scrub. It is 29 meters above sea level and receives less than 250mm of rainfall per annum. The climate of Barmera is dry with hot summers and warm days, and cold frosty nights in winter. The vineyard’s soil texture is sandy loam with 15-20% clay content. Small limestone concretions are present on the soil surface and through the profile in some parts of the vineyard.
